Trustees review map of Wilkshire Hills
At the Feb. 13 meeting, the Lawrence Township Board of Trustees reviewed a map of Wilkshire Hills presented by Ron Weekley, zoning inspector. Weekley was asked to begin defining which properties in the township fall within the designation Wilkshire Hills.
Weekley said he created the map by combining several existing maps of Wilkshire Hills into one for trustees to review. The purpose is to clarify which properties fall under the township’s deed restrictions.
Roads report
Road Supervisor Perry Myers presented a paving estimate received through the Tuscarawas County Engineer’s Office for $174,000. Myers said he reevaluated all township roads and identified those most in need of repaving including Kingwood Drive, Kennett Square and both sections of Old Trail Road.
Myers further reported the need to replace two culverts on Eberhart Road this summer and install three catch basins on Garberdale Square to improve water draining. Myers asked to purchase some of the materials for those projects, including 240 feet of pipe, now while they are on sale at Marlboro Supply.
Trustees approved spending up to $4,500 for materials. The total cost of the project, according to Myers, will be just shy of $10,000.
In other matters
Ann Ackerman outlined a free Amazon Prime bundle available to trustees through the Ohio Township Association. Benefits include having 30 days to pay and a 25% discount on all products and services. Trustees agreed to participate in the program, with Trustee Don Ackerman stating the board will continue to try to source materials and supplies locally before using Amazon.
Ann Ackerman also said she attended the Feb. 11 meeting of Zoar Village Council and asked them to sign the 2025 fire contract with the Bolivar Volunteer Fire Department through the township. She said Zoar Council members asked for time to review the contract, but Bolivar has already signed the contract.
Ann Ackerman informed trustees she had made the next-to-last payment on the new fire truck and that the purchase will be paid off by the end of the year.
The Lawrence Township Board of Trustees meets the second and last Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. at the Charles E. Lundenberger Hall, 10867 Industrial Parkway NW, Bolivar. All meetings are open to the public.
