Weekly Blessing

There's always room for one more

In this poetic meditation, Angela Chapman invites readers to trade complaints for gratitude, remember Christ’s saving work, and make daily thanksgiving a way of life—not just a holiday ritual.

When I have a thankful heart, I feel at peace.

Being filled with gratitude, my words appease.

Singing songs of thankfulness, my heart overflows.

As I think about God's faithfulness, my love for him grows.

Every day is an opportunity to see and receive God's grace,

Also on Thanksgiving and throughout the human race.

There's so much we can overlook as we get up each morn';

God opened our eyes, giving us life from the moment we were born.

It may be easy to find complaints in our life's journey.

We certainly could list what we don't have or what we could be doing.

Instead of always thinking about each passing regret,

We can think about the good we did, and the missed ... just forget.

God gives us each day with an abundance of harvest.

The God of our salvation daily loads us with benefits.

I have a list of what I'm thankful for.

I keep adding to it because I think of more.

I ponder on these things before I even get out of bed,

And throughout the day, before I lay down again, my head.

Many thankful times are in each day,

And with my words of, "Blessed be the Lord," I can say.

I also want to say that Jesus Christ is Lord.

Jesus' birth, death and resurrection are what I'm thankful for.

It is God's plan of salvation that every soul needs.

Jesus is the way, truth and life, with his bread he feeds.

Reflections this month can be on changes we need to make,

Putting God first as soon as we get awake.

Before we tackle our list of to-dos,

We can read the Bible and also pray.

With food on our table, God gives abundantly.

We're blessed so much ... redeemed and free.

We can talk and laugh, plus share some smiles,

With family and friends from across the miles.

Although we can't imagine what it's like in some places.

Where food is often scarce, there are many sad faces.

We can take for granted what we don't realize,

Each day, what we have that we see with our eyes.

God gives with no remorse, forgiveness with amazing love,

To those who ask and will believe in his only begotten Son.

Salvation is a Thanksgiving thing,

Given by Jesus Christ the king.

As we gather around our tables this year,

Let's also remember our loved ones who are not here.

Now Jesus is our good shepherd and holds all our tears.

He will never leave us. He comforts, and our hearts Jesus hears.

Let's pray for one another and give a caring hug.

It's the "Thanksgiving way" we're all a part of.

Let's thank God for Jesus and all of his provisions so many.

And there's always room for one more whose heart for Jesus is ready.
