Several locals earn All-East District basketball honors
West Holmes’ Aveona Yoder was an All-East District Division IV first-team pick while defender Ellie Habeger of Hiland earned Div. VII second-team honors.

The East District recently released its all-district boys and girls basketball teams, and several locals earned honors.
Boys
Hiland senior Nick Wigton was named Co-Player of the Year, and Mark Schlabach was tabbed Co-Coach of the Year in Division VI.
Wigton was joined on the first team by Alex Miller. Sam Wengerd earned honorable mention accolades.
In Div. IV, West Holmes’ Manny Camacho earned second-team honors. Nate Sprang and Cooper Maltarich picked up honorable mention accolades.
In Div. V, Garaway’s Blaine Raber was a first-team choice. Bronson Speedy was a second-team pick, Brady Geibel was a third-team choice and Bennet Wallick was named to the honorable mention team.
Girls
Hiland senior Joplin Yoder was named Co-POY, and Brady Schlabach was selected Co-COY in Div. VII.
Yoder was joined on the first team by Macy Mullet. Ellie Habeger and Trish Troyer were second-team selections while Evie Mast was a third-team pick.
In Div. IV, West Holmes’ Aveona Yoder and Briar Cline were first-team picks. Zalina Proper, Jewel Brown and Greta Rolince were named to the honorable mention team.
In Div. VI, Garaway’s Paige Regula was a second-team pick while Quinn Schwartz earned honorable mention accolades.
