Hiland, West Holmes and other area teams learn postseason matchups as sectional play begins mid-October
The Ohio High School Athletic Association held its draw on Oct. 5 for the upcoming boys and girls soccer postseason tournaments.
Here’s where area teams landed:
Boys
West Holmes, the 11th seed in the Division IV East 1 District, will open at No. 7 Maysville in a sectional final on Oct. 16. The winner will advance to play No. 1 Clairsville or No. 14 Cambridge in a district semifinal. No. 3 West Muskingum is in the other half of the bracket.
District semifinals will be Oct. 21 and the final Oct. 23, all at to-be-determined locations.
Hiland, the top seed in the Div. V East District, will start at home against No. 8 Caldwell in a sectional final on Oct. 14. With a win, the Hawks will host either No. 4 Bishop Rosecrans or No. 5 Shenandoah in a district semifinal. No. 2 Steubenville Catholic Central and No. 3 Tusky Valey are in the other half of the bracket.
District semifinals will be Oct. 21 and the final Oct. 23, all at to-be-determined locations.
Girls
West Holmes, seeded sixth in the Div. IV East 1 District, will open at home against No. 11 East Liverpool in a sectional final on Oct. 15. The winner will advance to play No. 4 Philo or No. 14 Harrison Central in a district semifinal. No. 1 Beaver is in the other half of the bracket.
District semifinals will be Oct. 20 and the final Oct. 22, all at to-be-determined locations.
Hiland, the second seed in the Div. V East District, will start at home against No. 7 Ridgewood in a sectional final on Oct. 15. The winner will advance to play either No. 4 Fairless or No. 5 Coshocton in a district semifinal. No. 1 Bishop Rosecrans and No. 3 Steubenville Catholic Central are in the other half of the bracket.
District semifinals will be Oct. 20 and the final Oct. 22, all at to-be-determined locations.
