Village receives county funding support as leaders move ahead on housing needs assessment, new traffic-light technology and other local updates
Millersburg Village Council met Monday, Nov. 10 and discussed the following:
—At its Nov. 5 meeting, the design and review board approved the COA for façade improvements at 40 W. Jackson St.
—The planning and zoning board will meet Dec. 3 at 6:30 p.m.
—Melway should be done with the Jones Street intersection by the end of the week of Nov. 10. After completion, Melway will do all striping work the village previously requested (Jones Street intersection, Glen Drive, Port Washington).
—Leaf collection is going well and will continue until the majority of leaves are down and/or the weather gets bad.
—Council reviewed the two bids for landscaping work and hanging baskets and decided on Roots Lawn Service for 2026.
—Cottonwood Shanty has requested permission to have a coffee truck in a public parking space in front of its store Nov. 15 for Merry Millersburg weekend. Council approved the request.
—The auction for 14 items is live on GovDeals and will continue through Nov. 24.
—Mayor Kelly Hoffee met with the Holmes County Commissioners recently and discussed the housing study, which will be done in the entire western portion of Holmes County and give the village data and information on what type of housing is needed, as well as the smart traffic lights for the downtown. The commissioners offered to provide $10,000 for the housing study and an additional $20,000 toward the smart traffic lights in downtown Millersburg. Council voted to move forward with the housing study and the installation and setup of the smart traffic lights in downtown Millersburg.
