Loudonville Public Library announces January programs

Winter challenges, book clubs, crafts and activities are scheduled for children, teens and adults throughout the month

The Loudonville Public Library has programs scheduled for January.

Loudonville Public Library announced its upcoming January programs, noting it will be closed Thursday, Jan. 1 for New Year’s Day.

The Winter Library Challenge will run Jan. 2 through Feb. 28, and children through adults can pick up a challenge sheet and complete activities to earn entries into prize drawings. Each completed sheet gives another chance to win.

Book Club to Go will begin Monday, Jan. 5, featuring "The Good Part" by Sophie Cousens, offering monthly kits with discussion questions and an activity to enjoy while supplies last.

Starting Monday, Jan. 5, the Teen Take Home Cooking Challenge will feature edible sugar cookie dough, with teens stopping by the youth desk to grab a kit — first come, first served and available to sixth grade through 12th grade.

Pinterest Power will offer a trinket tray craft Tuesday, Jan. 6 at 6 p.m. or Wednesday, Jan. 7 at 10:30 a.m., with sign-up required and a limit of 12 per session.

Story time will meet Tuesdays, Jan. 6, 13, 20 and 27 at 10 a.m. as an interactive program for age 2-5 that includes stories, songs, finger plays and crafts, with caregivers present and younger siblings welcome.

Homeschool Hangout-Button Making will take place Thursday, Jan. 8 at 2:30 p.m., connecting homeschool families for activities for all ages, with supplies limited.

A Stuffed Animal Workshop is scheduled Saturday, Jan. 10 from 10 a.m. to noon, allowing kids to stuff and take home a capybara plush. It is a drop-in program, but registration is required and limited to 24 participants.

Teens can test their spice tolerance at Hot Ones Monday, Jan. 12 at 4 p.m., based on the hit show, with sixth grade through 12th grade invited. Sign-up is required with a limit of 12 spots.

Steeped in Wellness will be Tuesday, Jan. 13 at 6 p.m., featuring Natalie from Gnat & Bee discussing winter herbs and teas while sampling soothing blends.

Hot Cocoa Tasting and Trivia will be Thursday, Jan. 15 at 3:30 p.m., with kids in first grade through eighth grade trying different cocoa flavors and participating in trivia. Sign-up is required with a 12-person limit.

The Adult Book Discussion will meet Friday, Jan. 16 at 11 a.m., featuring "The Measure" by Nikki Erlick, with books available at the circulation desk a month prior and the group meeting in the Golden Center.

Teen Take & Makes - Mini Library will begin Monday, Jan. 19, offering monthly take and make crafts for sixth grade through 12th grade on a first come, first served basis.

Spice Club also will start Monday, Jan. 19, inviting participants to discover a new spice each month with a take-home kit while supplies last.

Macrame and Mocktails will take place Tuesday, Jan. 20 at 6 p.m., combining mocktails with macrame basics to create a coaster, with sign-up required and space limited to 20 participants.

Kids Club will meet Wednesday, Jan. 21 at 3:30 p.m., welcoming children kindergarten through third grade for hands-on activities, games and surprises.

Winter Luminary Craft will be Thursday, Jan. 22 at 3:30 p.m., as kids in first grade through eighth grade design and decorate luminaries, with sign-up required and a 12-person limit.

Hot Cocoa & Hennas will be Monday, Jan. 26 at 4 p.m., inviting sixth grade through 12th grade to enjoy cocoa and henna art. Sign-up is required with a limit of 12 spots.

Bowling for Books will be Thursday, Jan. 29 at 3:30 p.m., as kids in first grade through eighth grade can bowl, play games and earn a free book to take home, with sign-up required and a limit of 12 spots.
