Library to host program on unsolved 1947 Zoar murder
The Tuscarawas County Public Library System will host local historian Noel Poirier for a program titled In the Shadow of Zoar: The 1947 Murder of John Myers Wednesday, June 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the Tuscarawas County Main Library.
“We are grateful that Noel Poirier will be joining us for this library event,” said Michelle McMorrow Ramsell, library director. “He skillfully presents these little-known stories in Tuscarawas County.”
Poirier will examine the life and mysterious death of John Myers, a man who went from a life of hard labor to a tragic and unsolved end outside a quiet tavern. The presentation aims to shed light on a long-forgotten chapter in the county’s history.
The Tuscarawas County Main Library is located at 121 Fair Ave. NW in New Philadelphia. Registration is required and can be completed by visiting the library’s online event calendar at www.tusclibrary.org or by calling 330-364-4474.
