Holmes County’s Legacy Point Park is slated to open June 5. Local officials will be present to inaugurate the park at 6 p.m., followed by guided tours to showcase the park’s features and offerings.
Legacy Point is designed to provide a variety of outdoor activities that cater to different interests and fitness levels. The 1 1/2-mile hiking trail weaves through woodland and open meadows. With its diverse habitats, Legacy Point is a sanctuary for bird watchers. Enthusiasts can expect to spot a variety of bird species, making it an ideal spot for both amateur and experienced bird watchers.
One of the park’s features is panoramic sunset views at the top of the old landfill where one can see for miles. Visitors can watch the sun setting over the Killbuck Valley.
Legacy Point has been developed with a commitment to preserving the natural environment. The park’s layout and facilities have been designed to minimize ecological impact while enhancing the visitor experience. Educational signage throughout the park provides information on local flora and fauna.
The park will be open to the public from dawn to dusk, and entry will be free of charge. Visitors are encouraged to keep animals on leashes, remove any trash they bring with them and clean up after pets.
With the beauty of nature comes hazards as well, such as being prepared for ticks and poison ivy. Proper clothing and being prepared keeps everyone safe.
Mark your calendars for June 5 from 6 p.m. to sunset and be among the first to explore this new gem in the county.
The park is located northeast of Millersburg at 6601 Township Road 326, just off state Route 241.
