It's an honor to serve the Lord
Local writer reflects in verse on Christ’s sacrificial love, redemption and the joy of serving him year after year.
Thank you, Lord, for your depths of love that reach to my soul.
Only you can do a miracle like that, to make me whole.
It reaches where I never could,
To comfort where life is misunderstood.
Your love is so strong it can never waver.
It holds and strengthens with awesome favor.
It is never weak — no, not at all.
And your love for me doesn't stall.
It comforts me when I am sad.
It breaks the chains of fear I had.
Your love for me dries my tears.
It turns my blues into happy cheers.
Your love for me went to a cross.
It held in place my debt and loss.
Your love gave life abundantly.
It removed my sin and made me free.
How can it be a love so tender ...
Yet it covers as my defender.
Your love is wrapped in scarlet thread.
It took from me the place of dread.
Your love, your love, oh how it won,
A victory only from the Son.
To climb each glorious, heavenly stair,
It moves my feet from here to there.
Your love made a way where there was none,
With a crimson path that did more than stun.
A love that gave forgiveness as a plan,
To seal my redemption from God's holy hand.
This love so awesome I can't fathom,
It has waves of joy and a fearless anthem.
Your love, oh Lord, surrounds my soul.
It mends and heals in ways I don't know.
An awesome God is all I can say ...
My words aren't enough to thank you each day.
I bow gladly before my Lord so dear ...
It's an honor to serve him year after year.
