Storytimes, book clubs, animal visits and Wimpy Kid celebration on the schedule

Storytime at the East Branch Library will be held Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29. Kids age 2-5 with an adult are invited to join for stories, songs and rhymes.
Growing Readers Storytime at the Holmes Central Library will take place Fridays at 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31. Kids age 2-5 and their parent or caregiver are invited to join for stories, songs, rhymes and more.
Little Learners Playgroup at the Holmes Central Library will be held Fridays at 11 a.m. on Oct. 3, 10, 17 and 31. Kids up to age 5 and their parent or caregiver can stop by for an hour of playtime through hands-on activities that help promote reading and social skills. Snacks will be provided.
Storytimes at the Killbuck Library are set for Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 7, 14, 21 and 28. Kids age 2-5 and their parent or caregiver are invited to join for stories, songs, rhymes and more.
Align & Thrive with Amy will take place at the Holmes Central Library on Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 6 p.m. Sound and vibrational therapies practitioner Amy Howman will share information about her area of practice and demonstrate a sound bath. Registration is required.
Paws to Read will be held at the Holmes Central Library on Saturday, Oct. 11 from 11 a.m. to noon. Visitors can stop by the children’s department and read to one of the furry friends from Caring Therapy Canines.
Spooky Scales & Buggy Tales will take place at the Holmes Central Library on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 11 a.m. This family-friendly program, presented by Leaping Lizard Adventures, will feature live reptiles and exotic insects.
Celebrate Wimpy Kid Week at the Holmes Central Library from Monday, Oct. 20 to Saturday, Oct. 25. The library will host a weeklong celebration of the 20th book release of the “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” series. The children’s department will feature creative challenges, interactive games and activity sheets inspired by the characters. Visitors also can sign up to win the newest book in the series.
The Friends of the Library annual book sale will be held at the Holmes Central Library. A members-only preview is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 23 from 5-7 p.m. The general public can shop Friday, Oct. 24 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 25 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. A range of books and AV items for all ages will be available.
The Adult Book Club will meet at the Holmes Central Library on Oct. 28 at 1 p.m. to discuss “Heartwood” by Amity Gaige. The evening book club will meet the same day at 6 p.m. to discuss “The Wedding People” by Alison Espach.
