On Monday, Nov. 10 at
1:15 p.m. in the Perry Reese Jr. Community Center at Hiland High School, veterans will be honored, there will be musical numbers,
the Hiland High School National Honor Society will share, and there will be a
time of fellowship between the NHS members and veterans following a service
that is always touching.
More importantly,
it is a moment for the entire high and middle school student
body, community, and others to celebrate and honor area veterans who have
faithfully served their country.
“The Veterans Day service is open to the public, so all
are welcome to attend,” said Zachary Rearick, East Holmes Local Schools
director of instrumental music and National Honor Society adviser. “We would
love for every veteran to join us.”
While the members of Hiland’s NHS are busy making lists and
inviting veterans who served, they know they may not connect with all of them,
so they are requesting that any service veteran who wasn’t contacted and would
like to join to do so.
Rearick said any veteran who would like to be part of the
ceremony may do so by calling the high school main office at
330-893-2626, and they will put their name on the list.
They will be asked to supply their name, service branch and
some other minor details.
Rearick said while the call to all veterans is going
out, they also are inviting everyone from the community to share in this
touching tribute to those who served.
He said packing the Reese Center will help area veterans
recognize how much the community cares about them.
