The Falls Prevention Program of Holmes & Wayne, under the guidance of the Holmes County General Health District, is sponsoring a Healthy Aging Clinic for the 60-plus population Tuesday, Dec. 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Holmes County General Health District, 2600 Glen Drive, Millersburg. This clinic is not income-based. Anyone is encouraged to participate.
The Healthy Aging Clinic will provide free fall risk and balance screenings and hearing and vision screenings. Each screening will be no more than 30 minutes.
The fall risk and balance screenings will be provided by trained Holmes County Medical Reserve Corps volunteers and fall prevention ambassadors. The MRC can make a referral with the agreement of the individual to the Falls Prevention Program of Holmes & Wayne. Results from the fall risk and balance screenings will be shared with the individual, along with documentation of the screening results.
Modern Hearing Solutions will conduct the hearing screenings. Education on the results of the screening will be reviewed with the individual including potential referrals.
Vision screenings will be provided by a certified adult vision screener trained through Prevent Blindness-Ohio and will be provided as a screening-only service. No diagnosis will occur with potential referrals. State vision provider information will be made available to those who participate in the vision screening.
