Weekly Blessing

He is my victory story

Angela Chapman's poem reflects on faith, trust and God’s steady presence in hardship

A blizzard of grace is on its way,

From heaven’s golden shore in one marvelous day.

The falling remnants from God’s banner

Gently resounds over one’s planner.

We don’t know what beholds in our day,

Except that God has control in every way.

It may happen in a second or in a blink or nod,

Some unexpected situation where you’re crying out to God.

Daily faith and believing with praise, trust and reliance

Is how you prepare with the Lord’s close abidance.

Preparing for a storm you don’t even see

Is how you’re staying ready with your humble knee.

Your faith and trust all along

Has been your carrying song.

While trusting in God’s promises,

Your depth of faith has increased in Jesus.

You don’t see how deep your walk is with the Lord,

Until you’re in a valley, feeling safe while enduring “the storm.”

You still feel a “peace” that passes all understanding,

And you sense the presence of God in a steadfast landing.

To believers in Christ, it’s your walk according to God’s plan.

It’s “keeping your eye on the prize” while not letting go of God's hand.

It’s your faith in action with no dead works.

It’s rising above the waters with Jesus and his perks.

You’re my Father, and I depend on you.

I’m your daughter, and you don’t want to see me blue.

I believe that you’re holding me right now too,

And through this all, you’ll continue to do.

This path right now isn’t easy; in fact, it’s a really hard one,

But I know, Lord, I’m not alone, and with me you’re not done.

The days are going by, and this challenge is still before me,

But my strength comes from God, and he is my victory story.
