Hall named as state director for USDA Rural Development in Ohio

The Trump administration recently appointed David L. Hall as state director for USDA Rural Development in Ohio.

A native of Millersburg, Hall served as a Holmes County commissioner for a decade before being elected to the Ohio House of Representatives in 2009. During his eight-year tenure there, he served as chairman of the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee and was appointed to the Finance Committee, the Finance Subcommittee on Agriculture and Natural Resources, and the Local Government Committee.

Most recently he served on the Ohio Public Works Commission and is a past president of the Ohio Mid-Eastern Governments Association.

“The robust support of Ohio’s rural economy, particularly through long-term, targeted investments in rural infrastructure, will positively impact the entire state’s economy for years to come,” Hall said. “This means rural jobs, access to capital for rural communities and enhanced rural innovation. I look forward to working with agriculture secretary Sonny Perdue to efficiently and effectively deliver USDA Rural Development programs to the people of Ohio.”

Perdue leads the USDA with four guiding principles: to maximize the ability of American agriculture in order to create jobs, sell foods and fiber, and feed and clothe the world; to prioritize customer service for the taxpayers; to ensure that food supply is safe and secure; and to maintain good stewardship of the natural resources.

USDA Rural Development provides loans and grants to help expand economic opportunities and create jobs in rural areas. This assistance supports infrastructure improvements; business development; homeownership; community services such as schools, public safety and health care; and high-speed internet access in rural areas.
