GriefShare 13-week program starts Jan. 9
Those who have experienced the death of a family member or friend are invited to attend the GriefShare program held at Shreve Community Church, 430 N. Main St., Shreve. Sessions will be held each Thursday from Jan. 9 through April 3 from 7-8:30 p.m. Weekly sessions are self-contained, and participants are welcome to join at any point in the 13-week cycle. Missed sessions can be picked up in the next 13-week cycle.
GriefShare is a nondenominational program featuring Christ-centered, biblical teachings that focus on grief topics associated with the death of a loved one. The DVD seminar features grief experts and real-life stories, followed by a small group discussion.
Your bereavement experience may be recent or not so recent. Participants will find encouragement, comfort and help in grieving the death of a spouse, child, parent, sibling, other family member or friend. No matter what the cause of a loved one’s death, this is an opportunity to be around people who understand. Those attending will learn how to recognize the symptoms of being stuck in grief. They will learn about facing a new normal in life and that they do not need to live in bondage to certain emotions.
The program is $20 to cover the cost of a book, and scholarships are available. Register at www.shrevecommunitychurch.org/grief-share/. For more information call 330-567-2051.
