The New Philadelphia Friends of the Library will host its seventh Garden Tour fundraiser Saturday, July 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets are on sale for the self-guided tour, which includes six gardens in Tuscarawas County.

“This year’s tour will focus on gardens in Central Tuscarawas County,” Friends President Candy Beaber said. “The proceeds from the Garden Tour will benefit the Tuscarawas County Library Foundation.”

The Library Foundation, formed in 2019, allows the library to receive gifts that, through investment and growth, will support the Tuscarawas County Public Library System for years to come.

The self-guided tour will showcase a variety of garden types and plantings, from historic to edible gardens, and it will include features such as gazebos, iron fencing, decorative stone and fountains.

Gardens on the tour include the following:

—Family Heritage Garden: The gardens of an original Reeve’s home feature some plants dating back to its original owners. Highlights include a stone pathway, sitting area, and numerous roses, lilacs, shade plants and annuals.

—Dr. C’s Garden: Located in New Philadelphia, this garden includes more than 300 hybrid daylilies and a variety of plants such as cannas, sunflowers, gladiolus, irises, clematis and roses.

—Schoenbrunn Village Garden: This historic New Philadelphia garden features plants common to 1700s Ohio, woven fencing and an herbal garden, reflecting its role in frontier life.

—Stonehaven Garden: Near Port Washington, this property includes perennials, hydrangeas, a pergola, a she shed, cast iron fencing, decorative stone, sandstone and fountains.

—Boulevard Berries & Beyond: Situated in Dover, this urban garden produces a variety of fruits and vegetables including raspberries, nectarines, grapes, apples and pollinator-friendly flowers.

—A Secret Garden: Also in Dover near the senior center, this garden features shrubs, trees, flowers, and fruit and vegetable beds. It includes a hidden backyard garden and garden art, with a focus on dahlias.

Tickets are available at the Tuscarawas County Main Library in New Philadelphia and branches in Bolivar, Strasburg, Sugarcreek and Tuscarawas during normal business hours. Tickets cost $15 and may be purchased with cash or check made out to the Friends of the Library — NP. Credit card purchases are accepted at the Tuscarawas County Main Library.

In case of rain, the tour will be held Sunday, July 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
