Fair seeks old photos and info
The Tuscarawas County Fair is celebrating 175 years and needs residents to help collect historical photos and information. They are looking for photos taken during fair time or of the fairgrounds with or without people. It is helpful to have years and people identified if possible. Factual history about the fairgrounds, the fair event, 4-H, Grange and others involved is welcome.
The Tuscarawas County Historical Society and Dover Historical Society are collecting items. You can choose to take your items to be scanned and retain the original or donate them completely. The historical society will retain all items in safe keeping as part of the Tuscarawas County Fair history collection.
To donate items, visit the following locations:
—Tuscarawas County Historical Society at Kent State Tuscarawas Achieve Room, located near the Student Union in Founders Hall. It is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to noon.
—Dover Historical Society Archives in the local history room of the Dover Public Library, 525 N. Walnut St., Dover. It is open Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you are donating all your items, they can be left with the front desk at the library.
If you wish to have your items scanned in and retain them, visit during the posted hours. A library staff member will scan them on-site so you can leave with your items.
