Democrats selected Callender for Dover City Council ballot
David Callender
The Dover City Central Committee of the Tuscarawas County Democratic Party met May 29 to interview candidates for the Dover City Council At-large ballot position following the formal withdrawal of Michael DiDonato from the 2025 general election.
After hearing from two candidates, David Callender and Mark Incarnato, the committee selected Callender to appear on the November general election ballot.
Callender is the owner of Pro AV of Ohio, which designs, installs and services professional sound, lighting and video systems for businesses, churches and organizations in Eastern Ohio. He also owns Better Banner Printing/Better Printing Company, which provides custom signage for clients both locally and nationally.
Callender previously served as the young adult services coordinator with the Stark Metropolitan Housing Authority, where he helped develop grant-funded programs offering life skills and job experiences for youth age 14-25. He has served as a board member and treasurer for Latino Cultural Connections, supporting services for Latino youth, and currently serves as secretary-treasurer of BNI Tuscarawas Gateway, a local small business networking group. He also is a former board member of the Dover Marching Tornadoes Booster Club.
A 2000 graduate of the University of Vermont with a bachelor’s degree in economics and business administration, Callender has lived in Dover for 23 years with his wife Heather. They have four children.
Callender said his ability to work amicably with others and solve problems will be an asset to city government.
