COW professor’s legacy honored through military exhibit

Have you ever attended a College of Wooster sporting event and heard the band play “Are You from Wooster?” This tune was penned by Stuart Ling, a professor of music at the college, while he was on active duty with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

The Wayne County Historical Society recently acquired Ling’s military papers, uniforms and memorabilia from more than 30 years of service in the U.S. Army. A sampling of items from his collection is currently on display in the military section of the museum. Tours are every Saturday at 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.

The military committee plans to explore the possibility of collaborating with the college on an exhibition highlighting Ling’s life and accomplishments.
