Community Convo: Meet Erik Marner
Tucked away in the rolling hills and villages of the area are pockets of residents and friends we’ve never heard from. There are houses and businesses we pass by without ever stepping foot through the door or extending a hand in welcome to who might be inside.
Who are they? What are they thinking about? Each week, we will travel to a new doorsteop for a “Community Convo.”
Meet Erik Marner, a resident of Millersburg who grew up in Berlin. His interests include movies, comic books, writing, societal shunning to a deserted island of those found guilty of telemarketing scams, the collapse of the two-party system, and taco recipes.
Let’s get to know Erik:
What is your favorite or least favorite thing about living in rural Ohio? — “(As a favorite) the last place I lived (Holmesville) had a driveway that was a half-mile long. It was “in the woods” but wasn’t “in the boonies.” I had a few friends over one weekend for a party and my one buddy decided he wouldn’t indulge in any beverages because he couldn’t stay the night. He was too freaked out by where I lived which was “in the sticks” by his words. You may think I’m exaggerating, but I could see in his face he was legitimately scared. He drove back home to East Cleveland where he felt safe. I tease him about it to this day.
