Column: With songs of joy his saints will sing
Angela Chapman offers a poetic meditation on God’s power, Christ’s return and the hope that sustains believers.
He makes the wind his chariot and rides upon it gleefully.
He carries me along the way and makes every enemy flee!
Oh, praise his name above all others.
His glory he displays in lightnings and thunders!
The clouds are the dust of God’s holy feet.
His footstool also is a delight beneath!
He causes the rains to water the earth.
It is the Lord who gives new birth!
Sing joyfully at his grand coming.
The Lord, the king, is a master strumming.
With trumpet sounds and a shout to hear,
The Lord’s return is very near!
Lift up your eyes to the adventure ahead.
Remember God’s promises and what Jesus said!
When these things come to pass,
A gathering together will happen fast!
We don’t know the exact day.
Be ready is what we should say!
In the twinkling of an eye, we will be gone,
To heaven with Jesus, and it won’t be long!
Just think, at our savior’s feet,
All believers will gather to meet!
To praise and honor our reigning king,
With songs of joy his saints will sing!
