Column: Rejoicing as Jesus calms our storms
A reflection on trust, God’s love, and shelter in times of fear
Help me, Lord, to trust in you when I’m afraid,
To trust in you with how I’m made.
Increase my faith that I may soar,
Above all problems that tend to roar,
To mount up with wings as eagles,
And glide like the seagulls,
To cut the strings from my jagged past,
Like a boat where the wind ripped the mast,
To hide in that secret place,
Covered with feathers and safe,
To be in a calm and quiet abode,
With my Savior whose love for me is shown.
His whisper is soft and gentle.
His words resound from his temple.
Peaceful is my master’s presence.
I’m comforted by his essence.
In God’s shelter there’s no anger,
Only love and never danger.
God’s authority is the rule,
And nothing is ever cruel!
In God’s sovereign land there’s no gossip ever.
A demeaning, deceiving, shrewd word? Never.
Love, compassion and care?
In God’s kingdom it’s there.
As I ponder upon the Lord’s amazing love,
I can’t fathom it all; his love is so far above.
I know his love is more than immense for me.
No greater love was my Savior upon that rugged tree.
Wrapped in Jesus’ arms of care,
There’s room for all his sheep there.
There’s none better than another in Father’s heavenly kingdom.
All who believe in and repent to Jesus belong with freedom.
Let us continually praise the Lord,
With an alto and soprano chord.
Let us comfort each other with God’s word and psalms,
And sing songs rejoicing as our storms Jesus calms.
