Bike rodeo open to area kids
A free Bike Rodeo will be held Sunday, May 4, from 1-4 p.m. in the student parking lot at Strasburg-Franklin Schools, 140 N. Bodmer Ave.
All youth from pre-K through fifth grade are invited to participate, and children from areas surrounding Strasburg are welcome. Participants may sign in and leave at any time during the event; there is no requirement to stay for the entire duration.
The event will feature safety stations focused on bicycle maintenance, proper helmet use and traffic rules, supported by Ernie’s Bicycle Shop and the Strasburg fire and police departments.
Boy Scouts will lead bike skills stations including balance, steering, coasting, turning and braking. Riders will practice these skills before using them on a timed rodeo course.
Prizes will be awarded for the fastest riders in four age groups: pre-K, kindergarten through first grade, second through third grade, and fourth through fifth grade. Additional door prizes will also be drawn at the end of the event.
Light refreshments and themed crafts will be available at no cost, and the Kona Ice food truck will be on site offering shaved ice treats.
The Bike Rodeo is hosted by Cub Scout Pack 72 and Boy Scout Troop 72 of Strasburg.
For more information, contact Michele Randolph at 330-340-1143 or email StrasburgScouts@gmail.com.
The rain date is Saturday, May 17, from 1 to 4 p.m.
