United Way directs $43,500 to Stark County food pantries
Seasonal investment supports children, families and pantry networks across the county
United Way of Greater Stark County (UWGSC) has announced a special funding award aimed at combating hunger this giving season. A total of $43,500 will be invested this month to help ensure no family goes hungry.
A contribution of $6,500 will go to Feed Kids First, which supports children who visit household-based pantries and plays a crucial role in providing nutrition to families facing food insecurity. The Stark County Hunger Task Force will receive $31,000 to distribute throughout its network of pantries across the county, supporting its mission of providing food assistance to those in need. Another $6,000 will go to Alliance for Children and Families through its Strong Neighborhoods Strong Families initiative, providing immediate relief to young families who rely on the program for basic nutritional support.
“Skipping meals affects more than hunger — it impacts a child’s ability to learn and the family’s ability to live even harder,” said Beth Hensley, vice president of community impact. “That’s why investments in these types of programs are critical, so families don’t have to choose between keeping the lights on or putting a healthy dinner on the table.”
As the need for food assistance grows and the cost of operating food pantries continues to rise, UWGSC encourages community members to donate essential items and resources. Their support helps keep pantries stocked and strengthens the overall well-being of families throughout the region.
United Way of Greater Stark County envisions a community where all children realize their full potential.
