Lake Township hires new zoning, economic development administrator
Trustees also address staffing changes, purchases and township business
At their March 23 meeting, Lake Township trustees hired Brian Koher as zoning and economic development administrator, effective March 30.
The new position is responsible for administering the township zoning resolution, reviewing development projects for long-range implications and assisting the public with planning and zoning matters. The role also focuses on advancing economic development initiatives, fostering business and community partnerships, and supporting commercial and industrial growth in alignment with the township’s comprehensive land-use plan. The position serves at the pleasure of the board.
In other business, trustees accepted the resignation of Uniontown Police Lt. Nathan Weidman, effective March 13. Weidman suffered a stroke last April. Trustees said they will continue to support him. Owen Plymale was approved as a part-time reserve police officer.
The board also accepted the resignation of auxiliary Road Department employee Sam Laspisa, effective May 21. Trustees approved the purchase of pipe and fittings from Marlboro Supply for $8,403.75.
Trustees approved hiring Wells Quality Excavating for cemetery storm cleanup at a cost of $3,000 and agreed to purchase payroll, time and scheduling software services from Payroll Partners.
The board approved filing an application for a township safety sign grant through the Ohio Department of Transportation.
Trustees also adopted the 2025 Ohio Fire Code and Ohio Building Code as the standards used by the township’s three fire companies, replacing the 2018 codes.
The board accepted the fiscal officer’s report for 2026 annual permanent appropriations totaling $21,232,797.48.
Following the meeting, trustees entered executive session to review a personnel matter. No action was taken.
The board approved total expenditures of $25,673.98. Trustee Jeremy Yoder was absent.
The meeting was streamed on Facebook Live and remained open to in-person attendance. Questions from viewers may be submitted by email to the township office.
The next regular meeting of the Lake Township trustees will be held April 13 at 5 p.m. at Township Hall, 12360 Market Ave. N.
