The Harrison County Fair Board met Feb. 2 as they continue to move forward for this year’s county fair.

Caitlyn Romshak shared the new officers for the 4-H Committee. Weslee Warner will serve as chair. Laramie Kimble is vice president, Wendy Chrisman is treasurer and Jenni Wilson will remain secretary.

“There was 10 individuals in total, including three young ladies, that gave reports,” Romshak said.

She said gift cards were prepared for winners and banners were purchased to accompany those winners. Romshak noted an event is scheduled for Feb. 14 at 2 p.m. and asked for volunteers interested in serving as judges. She added the committee is also seeking new at-large members.

“Having members involved in the 4-H Committee allows not only for strength in numbers, but also for multiple perspectives, which increases productivity,” she said.

Treasurer Kevin Willoughby said the judges’ budget totaled $4,860 last year, compared with $4,410 in 2024. The board approved a motion to set the judges’ budget at $5,500 for 2026.

The board also discussed this year’s spring dinner. Willoughby reminded members to include a list of who tickets were sold to and the amount collected when turning in tickets to improve transparency for the auditor.

Willoughby also requested a $2,000 budget “just for prizes,” as was done last year. The board approved the motion. The budget covers departments seven through 12 and includes areas such as baked goods, fine arts and photography.

Under old business, the board approved $1,97.25 for this year’s pedal pull event. Derby Dog Rough Truck was also approved for $5,000 and is scheduled for a Tuesday night.

Under new business, the board announced the spring meeting will be Saturday, April 11, at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds. Attendees are asked to arrive at 4 p.m., with dinner at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $30 per person.
