Cadiz Business Association unveils upcoming city projects
The Cadiz Business Association met Wednesday evening to discuss and unveil some of the upcoming business acquisitions and city projects. Association President Tate Blanchard, Mayor Kevin Jones, and Cadiz Village Administrator and Association Vice President Brandon Ludwig led the series of topics.
“This Association needs to both support the village’s businesses and support and foster relationships with each other,” Blanchard greeted. “We need to continue to demonstrate our incentive to grow and enhance the village as much as we possibly can. The layers of projects ahead of us really looks good.”
Mayor Jones updated the Dunkin’ Donuts project. Jones reiterated some of the positives the restaurant will bring. He also spoke of the idea of possibility creating an exit from the restaurant, which may lead back to route 22, without back tracking to the Lincoln Avenue and the route 9 main entrance.
Michele Homier, owner of the new uptown business called “The Cowgirl in Me” spoke of plans to introduce a Friday evening business festival of sorts, which will highlight the endeavors of the Business Association. Some details of the event are that a portion of Main Street will be blocked off and vendors will be assigned spaces. All businesses will be invited to participate.
“The event will be called Uptown Cadiz,” Homier said. “The invitation to business participation will even include the Sheriff’s office. This activity will help to draw attention to the businesses and their products. We know that business grows business, so I would like to introduce and see the idea happen. This event will allow the businesses to show and introduce their products.
“Uptown Cadiz” will happen the third Friday of the month beginning in May and continuing through August. The dates will be May 17, June 21, July 19, and Aug. 16. The hours of participation will be from 6-9 p.m. We are also looking at including a classic car show. Food vendors are expected to participate. We are planning to have attraction for kids and families to walk around and enjoy the environment. One additional piece of the summer events will include concerts.”
As far as concerts go, the entertainment would begin at 8 p.m., and be held on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
“We anticipate a food truck to be included in the concert planning,” Ludwig said. “As far as business advertisement, we are working with a site called “GoGov.” We are also using them to alert when there may be a water break, and any other event that affects people may happen. This does not exclude Facebook as a business advertising site. We are hoping that the GoGov site will be able to both show business profiles and advertisements. The concert area will be divided into sections, with a VIP section that include food and drinks as part of the cost to use. Some concert ticket sales are already in progress.”
“Nothing is finalized at this point, but we anticipate having some good entertainers at the concert location in Sally Buffalo Park.”
