Winter Qigong sessions begin in Coshocton
Join free weekly classes at Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum starting Feb. 11.
Join Holli Rainwater at the Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum for a four-week session of Winter Qigong at noon Wednesdays, Feb. 11 through March 4 — no need to register and no charge.
This session will feature some special winter movements inspired by a Mary Oliver poem and designed to energize, protect and balance the heart.
Qigong is an ancient Chinese health care system that combines gentle body movements, breath practice and deep relaxation. The sessions will use the tai chi qigong Shibashi form as its core practice. This is a user-friendly form with many benefits for both the beginner and more seasoned practitioner. Wear comfortable clothing and lightweight shoes.
Qigong is gentle and does not require getting down on the floor. Rainwater has been studying and teaching qigong since 2004 and is certified as a tai chi easy practice leader.
The Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum is located in Historic Roscoe Village at 300 N. Whitewoman St. in Coshocton. Museum hours are Friday through Sunday from noon to 4 p.m., and all Sundays are free admission to Coshocton County residents.
