River View students travel to Disney
Choir and band students from Coshocton County left Sunday for Walt Disney World after years of fundraising and community support
River View High School choir and band students left Sunday for a trip to the most magical place on Earth.
Thanks to fundraising efforts, dedicated families and community support, the students were able to spend the week at Walt Disney World in Florida.
“We go every four years and do this to expose the kids to new places and give them opportunities to perform outside of Coshocton County and the state,” said Dawn Anglin, choir director.
Fundraising for the trips start as soon as one ends.
“The community support for this trip has been phenomenal,” Anglin said. “Lots of people have helped give these kids this experience.”
This year’s trip cost $1,750 per student. With fundraisers and donations, each student going received at least $300 to help cover costs. Monthly payments also were able to be made.
Three 2026 graduates on the trip were Izzy Meyers, Konner Mercer and Zoe Hardesty.
“I was really excited to get to go,” Meyers said. “I was looking forward to meeting the Disney characters and seeing them in action. It always looks like so much fun to see them.”
This trip was a brand-new experience for her.
“I want to take advantage of opportunities when they are presented to me,” Meyers said.
Mercer said he was really looking forward to performing in front of larger crowds and is thankful for the experience.
“I want to thank all the people who helped chip in for this,” he said. “I know if it wasn’t for their support, many of the kids wouldn’t have gotten to go.”
Hardesty said she’s been looking forward to this trip since she was in eighth grade.
“I probably wouldn’t have the opportunity to go without the school helping,” she said. “I’m very thankful for everyone who helped make this possible.”
