Our Town Coshocton is a community-driven, nonprofit Main Street organization dedicated to restoring, promoting and energizing Coshocton’s historic district. Through events, restoration efforts, business support and volunteer-driven initiatives, we work to ensure our historic district remains a vibrant, welcoming and economically strong destination for residents and visitors alike.
One of the most rewarding parts of serving as executive director of Our Town Coshocton is seeing people come together for a common goal. This organization exists because people care deeply about their community and are willing to give their time, talents and ideas to make the Coshocton community stronger, more vibrant and more welcoming for everyone.
Our Town Coshocton is proud to be part of Heritage Ohio and the Main Street America program. These designations connect us to a nationwide network of communities working toward downtown revitalization using proven strategies that balance preservation with progress. At the heart of this work is the Main Street Four-Point Approach, a comprehensive framework that focuses on promotion, design, organization and economic vitality. Each point represents a committee that relies heavily on volunteers, and each plays a vital role in shaping the future of downtown Coshocton.
The promotion committee focuses on telling Coshocton’s story and creating experiences that draw people downtown. From seasonal events and festivals to marketing efforts and business spotlights, this committee helps showcase the energy, charm and unique character of our historic district. Volunteers with creative ideas, social media skills, event planning experience or simply a passion for community engagement thrive in this role.
The design committee is responsible for preserving and enhancing the physical appearance of our downtown. This includes historic preservation, beautification projects, window displays, signage and streetscape improvements. The goal is to ensure Coshocton remains attractive, functional and true to its historic roots. If you thrive on seeing tangible results, this committee is perfect for you, as efforts will include projects you can walk past, admire and take pride in every day.
The organization committee serves as the backbone of Our Town Coshocton. This group focuses on fundraising, volunteer recruitment, partnerships and overall sustainability of the organization. Strong organizations create strong communities, and this committee ensures Our Town Coshocton has the resources, leadership and support needed to continue its mission. Volunteers here will get to enjoy behind-the-scenes work, strategic planning, or building relationships with local businesses and community partners.

The economic vitality committee works to strengthen and grow downtown’s economic base. This includes supporting existing businesses, encouraging new investment, promoting entrepreneurship and helping the district adapt to changing economic conditions. Volunteers with experience in business, finance, marketing or development or those simply interested in learning more about how a downtown economy functions all bring valuable perspectives to this committee.
What makes the four-point approach so effective is it recognizes revitalization doesn’t happen in isolation. Promotion supports business growth. Design enhances the visitor experience. Organization provides structure and sustainability. Economic vitality ensures long-term success. When all four points move forward together, real and lasting progress occurs.
Coshocton is a small, tight-knit community, and that is our greatest strength. Our success depends on people stepping forward, sharing their talents and working toward a common goal. Volunteering with Our Town Coshocton is not just about meetings or projects; it’s about investing in the place we call home and believing in what we can accomplish together.
If you have ever wondered how you can make a difference locally, I encourage you to consider volunteering with Our Town Coshocton. Whether you can give a few hours a month or take on a more active role, your involvement matters. Together, guided by the Main Street approach and fueled by community pride, we can continue making Coshocton a place where history is honored, businesses thrive and community connections grow.
