Coshocton Historical Club hosts abolitionist program
Event at Prairie Chapel Global Methodist Church features Underground Railroad history April 13
The Coshocton Historical Club will meet at 1 p.m. Monday, April 13. The new venue is the Prairie Chapel Global Methodist Church, 45494 County Road 23. You can see the church from Route 36 a short distance north from the city. Turn right after passing the barriers for Boyd Gravel.
The program will be an impersonation of Mrs. John Rankin, abolitionist, presented by Alice Hoover. Attendees will learn about the beginnings of the Underground Railroad movement and hear about some of the narrow escapes by the fugitive slaves. She also will include some information about the Underground Railroad in Coshocton County.
Devotions will be given by Karen Yost. Roll call will be answered by the question: What is your favorite Underground Railroad song? Committee members are Pat Bowen, Nancy Cochran, and Chris and Karen Yost.
