Rep. Hiner champions regional projects, votes in support of capital budget bill
Edison boosters to host annual Steak Fry and Auction fundraiser
Funding from the event will go to the Edison Booster Club to support all of the school’s athletic programs
The Edison High School Athletic Boosters will host their annual Steak Fry and Auction to benefit sports programs Saturday, March 28, at The Countryside in East Springfield. Dinner will be served at 5 p.m. and a live auction will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $50 and include a meal with all the fixings, dessert and drinks. Organization leaders said it has been a major fundraiser for the program.
“The annual Steak Fry and Auction is the main fundraiser for the Edison High School Athletic Boosters,” Booster President Myron Rees said. “It will include a steak dinner, dessert and drinks with raffles, games and a live auction. The steak fry has been an annual event for over 30 years.”
About 200 people are expected to attend. Food will be provided by Ohio Catering, brownies by Bette Kaye Bakery and the auction will be conducted by Cain Realty and Auctioneers. Attendees also may take part in a gift card tree raffle and reverse raffle during the evening. Rees said funding from the event will go to the Edison Booster Club to support all of the school’s athletic programs.
“The proceeds will also help to keep Edison sporting events streaming for free via our HUDL services,” he said.
“The boosters provide anything that the coaches come to us and ask for outside of uniforms. During the past year, we have provided thousands of dollars in travel and meal expenses for our teams, bought Guardian Caps for the football team, helped bring our boys soccer program back with a generous startup donation and provided balls for both soccer and volleyball, among many other projects.
“Our major expenditure each year is to provide HUDL for all our sports and to livestream nearly every home contest to the public. HUDL services cost the boosters more than $16,000 per year.”
Rees said the benefit has raised more than $20,000 in the past, and organizers hope to reach that goal again this year.
Tickets will be available at the door the night of the event. More information is available through Edison’s social media platforms or by contacting Rees at 740-317-5360.
