CHS winter homecoming crowning set for this Friday
Carrollton High School announces 2026 homecoming candidates; crowning set during varsity basketball game against Alliance

Carrollton High School’s 2026 winter homecoming will be held this weekend, with the crowning Friday, Jan. 23 at the beginning of the varsity basketball game against Alliance and a dance from 7-10 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24 at the high school.
Following are biographies provided by the 10 candidates for homecoming queen and king.
Freshmen
— Emilee Shepherd, daughter of Sara and Gary Shepherd, attends First Christian Church of Malvern. Shepherd is a member of the honor roll. She also is a six-year member of the A to Z 4-H Club and has been an honor member all six years.
Shepherd is an active member of the Carrollton FFA and has served as a junior fair board member. She plays volleyball, basketball and softball for Carrollton High School and also plays travel softball for the Athletic Mercados.
— Isaac Day, son of Jackie Day and Chris Day, attends First Christian Church of Malvern. Day has competed on the cross-country, soccer and wrestling teams, earning a varsity letter in soccer. He is a Scholar-Athlete Award winner and a member of student council.
Sophomores
— Erin Shafer, daughter of Stephanie Roudebush and Darrell Shafer, attends Faith Family Church of North Canton. Shafer is a two-year member of yearbook and FFA and a one-year member of CHS Club and Youth to Youth.
In sports, Shafer is a two-year member of the volleyball team, earning a letter her first year. She is a two-year letter winner on the girls basketball team, which advanced to the Elite Eight/Regional Finals. Erin also is a member of the track team, earning a letter her first year. She is a member of the 4x100 relay Carrollton school record-holding team, a 4x100 state qualifier, EBC 4x100 record holder and EBC 4x100 champion.
— John Bajornas, son of Brandi and John Bajornas, is a triathlete, lettering in football, basketball and track. He also is a member of the Academic Hall of Fame.
Juniors
— Abigail Matoszkia, daughter of Jamie and Alfred Matoszkia, attends Christ Community Church of Dellroy. Matoszkia is currently enrolled in the cosmetology program at Buckeye Career Center, where she is involved with Buckeye Buddies, helping build friendships with students with special needs. She also is a member of SkillsUSA Ohio and has been an honor roll student for three years.
Matoszkia is a two-year letter winner on the girls soccer team, earning EBC honorable mention.
— Jacob Herman, son of Tara and Jake Herman, is currently a student at Buckeye Career Center in the business and marketing lab. He has received CPR certification and OSHA certification and is a three-year member of the Academic Hall of Fame.
Seniors
— Isabella Nuzzolillo, daughter of Ron and Alzana Nuzzolillo, attends First Christian Church of Malvern. She is a four-year member of the Academic Hall of Fame, a four-year honor roll student, a four-year scholar-athlete and a two-year member of the National Honor Society.
Nuzzolillo is a letter winner on the girls soccer team, serving as a two-year captain and earning two First Team EBC awards and First Team All-District honors.
She also is a letter winner in track, earning First Team EBC, First Team All-District and qualifying for the state meet. She is an All-Ohio Scholar-Athlete and a member of the 4x100 relay school record-holding team. Her future plans are to attend Kent State University and pursue a career in biomedical science.
— Duval Citro, son of Elisha and Jake Citro, attends First Christian Church of Malvern. Citro is a two-year member of the National Honor Society and a four-year member of the Academic Hall of Fame.
He is a letter winner on the boys varsity soccer team and served as a one-year captain. In soccer, he has earned First Team EBC, First Team All-District and is a two-time Scholar-Athlete. Citro also is a two-year member of the boys varsity volleyball team, where he is a two-year EBC Scholar-Athlete.
His future plans are to attend Kent State University and pursue a career in mechanical engineering.
— Madelyn Power, daughter of Jacki and Scott Power, is a dual-enrolled student, a four-year member of the Academic Hall of Fame and a four-year scholar-athlete.
Power played two years of volleyball and is a two-year letter winner in soccer. She is a member of Big Brothers Big Sisters, CHS Club and the National Honor Society.
After high school, Power plans to attend the University of Mount Union to study exercise science and pursue a career as a physician assistant through Mount Union’s graduate program.
— Tanner Johnston, son of Alesha and Marcus Johnston, attends Buckeye Career Center, where he is enrolled in a double lab in the utility lineman and electrical programs. He is a four-year honor roll student and a Buckeye Career Center Student of the Month.
Johnston is a four-year member of the CHS football team, where he is a three-year letter winner, scholar-athlete and served as a team captain this past season.
