Gift from Mary Dunlap commemorates her husband Raymon and offers visitors a quiet place to reflect near the splash pad.
A new bench now sits near the splash pad at Carrollton’s Fifth Street city park, a gift from longtime resident Mary Dunlap in memory of her husband, Raymon.
Raymon died 14 years ago, but the couple’s connection to the park goes back decades. For 45 years, they lived in the neighborhood, often spending time in and around the park.
“We spent a lot of time in and around that park,” Dunlap said. “It was a big part of our lives.”
The memorial bench provides a quiet spot for visitors to sit, reflect and enjoy the park. For Dunlap, it is a meaningful way to honor her husband while giving something lasting to the community they called home.
