Wooster Emblem Club honors late members, prepares holiday giving and community service
Club to support local veterans, charities and scholarships while planning winter events and fundraising.
Wooster Emblem Club #374 held its annual memorial service Nov. 25, remembering Alta Bucher, Ginny Fath and all deceased members. Past President Dottie Roberts draped the charter, and President Paulette Douglas presided.
Reports on activities since the October meeting were given. Those included a successful first lasagna dinner, 50/50 drawings and the sale of butter braids for the 2027 convention.
Upcoming activities include making buckeyes, ringing bells for The Salvation Army, a Christmas luncheon at the Pine Tree Barn and the annual Christmas celebration at TJ’s Restaurant. A card party and luncheon will be held Jan. 14.
The club voted to provide a monetary donation to Christian Children’s Home and meals for three veteran families at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Annual donations to the Elks National Foundation and cerebral palsy were approved.
Deb Blough-Schmidt announced scholarship applications will be available for any member’s child, grandchild or great-grandchild. Contact her for applications.
The club does not have a regular meeting in December but resumes monthly meetings Jan. 27 at 2 p.m.
