Wooster Chamber Music Series opens Oct. 26 with Han-Setzer-Finckel Trio

The Wooster Chamber Music Series will open its season Oct. 26 at 3 p.m. with a performance by Han-Setzer-Finckel Trio. Former Emerson Quartet members Philip Setzer (violin) and David Finckel (cello) join pianist Wu Han for a trio.

This ensemble has performed worldwide, and their playing led one reviewer to say, “It used to be the Beaux Arts Trio that other piano trios had to look up to and attempt to emulate. Now it’s the Han-Setzer-Finckel triumvirate that is the standard-bearer.”

In addition to their work as a duo, Finckel and Han are artistic directors of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, as well as founders and artistic directors of Music@Menlo in Silicon Valley and Chamber Music Today, an annual festival held in Seoul. In addition to their concert activities, the artists have recorded the piano trios of Schubert, Mendelssohn, and Dvořák and Beethoven.

The Wooster Chamber Music Series has brought musicians to the community since 1986. The series gives audiences a chance to hear small ensembles in the acoustics of Gault Recital Hall in Scheide Music Center at The College of Wooster. Audiences also have the opportunity to meet the performers after the concert.

Tickets are $25 for general admission and $100 for a series subscription. Middle and high school and College of Wooster students are admitted for free. All concerts are on Sundays at 3 p.m. and take place in Gault Recital Hall, 525 E. University St., Wooster.
