Wayne County women invited to apply for AAUW scholarships

Wooster AAUW offers $500-$2,500 awards to support nontraditional students returning to higher education

The Wooster branch of AAUW is accepting applications through March 15 for its 2026-27 scholarships for Wayne County women returning to interrupted post-secondary education or pursuing certification/licensure and possibly graduate study.

Each year the Wooster branch of the American Association of University Women awards scholarships to women in Wayne County whose educations have been interrupted by life’s circumstances.

The Wooster branch of AAUW is now accepting applications for its 2026-27 AAUW Scholarship Program. The Wooster AAUW Scholarship is available to Wayne County women whose post-secondary education was interrupted and are enrolled or enrolling as nontraditional students in an accredited undergraduate associate or bachelor's degree program, as well as those pursuing certification/licensure needed for employment. Additionally, women pursuing a graduate degree will be considered.

Awards, based on need and available funds, range from $500-$2,500 and can be used for tuition and fees required for enrollment. Scholarship funds also may be used for books and equipment required for the chosen area of study.

Prior recipients are eligible to reapply. The number of renewals is at the discretion of the committee.

The deadline for applications is March 15. The online scholarship application can be found at the Wayne County Community Foundation’s website under the Grants and Scholarships tab. More details regarding the scholarship can be found on the Wooster AAUW website. Scholarship recipients will be notified by June 1, and funds will be distributed after July 1.
