St. Agnes St. Vincent de Paul Conference marks 45 years of community service
Group continues mission of providing emergency aid for families in Apple Creek, Dalton, Marshallville and Smithville through parish support and generosity
This year marks the 45th anniversary of the St. Agnes Conference of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, which was founded to provide emergency assistance to members of the St. Agnes community and to the service area of Apple Creek, Dalton, Marshallville and Smithville.
Original members included Rev. Fr. James Conry, St. M. Albert, Harlen Demers, Ray Ziegman, Paul Hollinger, Teresa Hollinger, Carol Macrino, Aileen Cairnie, Betty Herbert, Louis Prechtel, Charles Landers and Eileen Landers.
Assistance is provided, depending on needs assessment, and includes help with utility bills, occasional prescription payments and grocery assistance.
All of this is due to the generosity of the members of St. Agnes Parish answering Christ’s call found in Matthew 25: 35-36, “For I was hungry and you gave me food. I was thirsty and you gave me drink. I was a stranger and you welcomed me. I was sick and you visited me.”
