Planes and pancakes at Wayne County Airport Sept. 13
Chapter 846, a local chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association, will showcase its airplanes and serve a full pancake breakfast on Saturday, Sept. 13 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Wayne County Airport, 6020 N. Honeytown Road, Smithville.
Chapter members will have their aircrafts on display. More planes will fly in to join. From classic airplanes like the Piper Cub to planes made entirely by hand by chapter members and at a factory like Cessna, there will be lots to see.
A pancake breakfast including sausage, eggs and coffee or juice can be purchased all morning. All funds raised during the event will go to support chapter activities and scholarship programs.
The chapter promotes all facets of aviation by presenting a variety of programs and activities available to anyone interested in aviation. For more information on the chapter and its events, visit chapters.eaa.org/eaa846.
The chapter also offers scholarships to young people to learn to fly and participates in the national Young Eagles program. As a Young Eagle, youth are introduced to aviation by experiencing a free flight in a member’s aircraft. Members give each child a brief ground school, followed by their free flight. The members are volunteers and donate their time and aircrafts for the event.
