Letter to the Editor

Local elections give Wooster residents a voice on schools, council and DD levy

Letter urges voters to make a plan, noting absentee deadline Oct. 28, early voting through Nov. 2 and polls open 6:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Nov. 4.

Letter to the Editor,

Wooster neighbors — do you have a plan to vote in the upcoming elections?

There are contested races for the Wooster City School Board (four candidates for three seats) and Wooster City Council, Ward 4 (two candidates for one seat). This is your opportunity to help decide who will be involved in decision-making processes on many local issues.

There is also a proposed tax levy renewal for the Wayne County Board of Developmental Disabilities that requires a “yes” or “no” vote.

The receipt deadline for an absentee ballot is Tuesday, Oct. 28. Early in-person voting (with some extended hours) at the Wayne County Board of Elections office is available now through Nov. 2. There is no voting on Monday, Nov. 3. Polls will be open for in-person voting from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

To review candidates, polling locations, sample ballots and the absentee ballot request, go to https://www.waynecountyoh.gov/.

Local elections are a time to set political parties aside. Instead, take time to learn about the positions’ qualifications. Then, get to know the candidates so that you can vote based on a candidate’s fit for a particular office, along with their alignment with your values and interests.

For more information on candidates’ positions, check out www.vote411.org and the candidates’ social media and websites.

What’s your plan? Remember, your vote is your voice. See you at the polls.
