Drive-thru pop-up food pantry set for Dec. 9 in Wooster
Wayne County Health Department, Akron-Canton Foodbank to serve residents as need continues to rise.
The Wayne County Health Department, in collaboration with the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, will host its next monthly pop-up food pantry Tuesday, Dec. 9 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of the WCHD's offices, 244 W. South St., Wooster. This pantry will be drive-thru.
“Last month we served over 226 families, and we ran out of food half an hour early," said Nicholas Cascarelli, Wayne County health commissioner. "This underscores the need we have in the community. If folks cannot make it to this pantry and are in need of food, please visit our website at www.wayne-health.org for other times and locations where people can get food in our community."
Individuals and families can receive food if their income is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level ($30,120 per year for individuals and adding $10,760 per year for each additional family member). For example, a family of four whose annual household income is $62,400 or less would be eligible.
The health department asks that anyone attending the food pantry to receive food enter through the alley off Walnut Street, as it's a one-way alley running east to west.
Anyone interested in volunteering to help with the pop-up pantry can call the Wayne County Health Department at 330-264-9590 ext. 207.
