The holiday celebrations continue in downtown Wooster with Main Street Wooster’s Hop on-Hop off Historic Church Tour Friday, Dec. 5 from 4-7 p.m. The free event is an exploration of some of the downtown area’s historic houses of worship. A shuttle service creates a hop-on, hop-off style as guests can move at their own pace and pick and choose which stops to explore.

The City of Wooster is providing two WayGo shuttles for the event. Guests can park at the Wayne County Public Library, 220 W. Liberty St., where the bus will load and unload after each loop. The library will be open until 6 p.m. People also may park at one of the churches and hop on the bus. The shuttle bus is free; tips for the drivers are appreciated.

Kerri Kiel, project manager with Main Street, said the tour began several years ago as a walking tour. Participants do not have to ride the bus to experience the tour; they can walk or drive.

“We offer the shuttle to make it easier for families, those with mobility issues or (anyone who) simply doesn’t want to worry about having to park at places they are not super-familiar with,” Kiel said.

The event also is scheduled to include a stop at the Wayne County Historical Society and People to People Ministries. Each location will offer something different in addition to its tour. Everything from live organ music to carolers, refreshments, and historical information and presentations will add to the event.
