Tuscarawas gymnasts compete at national meet in Wisconsin

Seven gymnasts from the Tuscarawas County YMCA competed last week at the YMCA National Gymnastics Championship in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Representing the local Y were Charlee Beachy, Ari Burcher, Ellie Horger, Evelyn Horger, Skyler Kellerman, Teagan McDonald and Lucy Miller.Of the group, Lucy Miller achieved the highest all-around score for the team with a 36.05 out of 40 points. She also earned a fifth-place medal for her routine on the balance beam.

The national meet hosted approximately 2,000 gymnasts from across the country, ranging in age from 6-20. Although the Tuscarawas YMCA had qualified 35 gymnasts to compete, scheduling conflicts, job obligations, travel logistics and cost prevented many from attending. Head coach Brianna Stoker traveled with the group.

In the Xcel Gold Division, Lucy Miller placed fifth on balance beam, 10th all-around, 11th on floor exercise, 12th on bars and 19th on vault. Skyler Kellerman placed 10th on floor, 20th on vault, 21st on bars, and 22nd on beam and all-around.

In Level 6 competition, Ellie Horger finished 11th on vault and floor, 12th on bars, 16th all-around, and 20th on beam.

In Level 4, Ari Burcher earned eighth place on vault and beam, ninth on floor, 11th all-around, and 12th on bars. Teagan McDonald placed 10th on beam, 13th on bars, 14th on floor and all-around, and 17th on vault.

In Level 3, Charlee Beachy finished ninth on beam, 11th on vault and floor, 13th all-around, and 20th on bars. Evelyn Horger placed 10th on bars, 14th all-around with a score of 34.725, 16th on beam, and 17th on floor and vault.

In addition to the seven gymnasts who competed, 28 other Tuscarawas YMCA gymnasts qualified for the national championship across various levels. At Level 7, qualifiers included Jaycie Baker, Lily Denney, Landry Little, Auria McDaniel and Mia McPeek. Level 6 qualifiers were Anna Bonvechio, Vivian Denney, Ellie Horger, Rebekah Klaserner, Kinsley McDonald, Layla Porter, Kinley Reichman and Arli Waller.

In the Xcel Platinum Division, qualifiers were Lily Endlich, Kendall Geers and Sofia Secrest. The Xcel Gold qualifiers included Penelope Endlich, Skyler Kellerman, Jaylee Lute, Alyse Mello, Lucy Miller and Aria Sanner.

Level 4 qualifiers were Ari Burcher, Avery Gause, Teagan McDonald and Isabelle O’Neill. At Level 3, Charlee Beachy, Avery Emler, Aailyah Garner, Alaysia Garner, Evelyn Horger, Peyton Lewis, Jordynn Roden, Norah Russell and Cadence Schlabach all qualified.
