Walgate headlines list of local All-Ohio honorees
Medina Christian senior earns first-team recognition as area athletes collect postseason awards

The awards continued to pour in for Medina Christian senior R.J. Walgate. The 6-foot-7 senior became the school’s first All-Ohioan, as he was one of 13 players named first-team all-state in Division VII for the 2025-26 season.
Walgate averaged 18.5 points for the Knights. He was joined by 6-5 classmate Sam Dorman, a 14.5-point scorer, who received an All-Ohio honorable mention.
Cloverleaf senior Evie Barth received the highest honor among area girls. The 5-8 guard, who averaged 18.8 points for the Colts, was named third-team All-Ohio in Division IV.
Highland senior guard Grace Shondel was named third-team All-Ohio in Division III. The 5-7 defender scored 8 points per game for the Hornets, who advanced to regionals for the second consecutive year. Shondel’s sophomore teammate Madi Morgan, a 5-9 forward who scored 11 points per game, received an honorable mention.
Highland’s Joshua Butcher received special mention on the Division II boys All-Ohio team. The 6-4 senior averaged 17.8 points. Cloverleaf’s Isaac Smith earned special mention in Division IV after averaging 21.5 points.
Medina senior Garrett Myers received an honorable mention in Division I. The 6-6 senior averaged 13.5 points for the Bees. In Division III, Buckeye senior Turner Dolata earned honorable mention after averaging 17.6 points. Medina senior Abby Dress received an honorable mention in Division I, averaging 11.5 points.
All-Ohio teams were selected by members of the Ohio Prep Sports Media Association and are based on regular-season accomplishments.
Additional honors were awarded across the area. Medina’s Anna Schorck and Taegan Gilmore were named Greater Cleveland Conference gymnastics and wrestling MVPs. Myers and Ryan Harubin earned first-team All-GCC honors in boys basketball, while Dress and Molly Gilbert were first-team selections in girls basketball.
For Highland, Butcher was named Suburban League American Conference co-player of the year and Tanner Houska earned coach of the year honors. Jake Weber and Austin Cope joined Butcher on the first team, while Nick Dombrowski was second team and Jameson Gordon and Colin Goldie received honorable mention.
On the girls side, Shondel and Morgan were first-team selections. Rowan Kildoo earned second-team honors, while Emeri Gausman and Jordyn Caples received honorable mention.
Gracie Dunn was named bowler of the year, with Lusas Less a first-team selection. Davis Slatkovscky earned second-team honors and Andrew Talpas received honorable mention.
Libby Lutzko was named conference diver of the year. Brandon Bickerton was co-wrestler of the year and Lazar Vilimonovic earned coach of the year honors.
Buckeye’s Dolata was named Cleveland West Conference player of the year. Austin Hyre and Derek Snyderburn were second-team selections.
Cloverleaf’s Barth was named first-team All-Metro Athletic Conference. Kinsey Bayer earned second-team honors, while Kendall Seiwerth and Madi Young received honorable mention.
Cloverleaf’s Smith was also named first-team All-Metro Athletic Conference in boys basketball. Jimmy Tolley and Jackson James received honorable mention.
