State Road reconstruction project planned in Medina; public input requested

ODOT and city seek comments ahead of proposed fall 2026 start for 1.3-mile roadway, utility and sidewalk overhaul

A 1.3-mile reconstruction of State Road in Medina is planned for fall 2026, with public comments being accepted through Feb. 5.

The Ohio Department of Transportation and the city of Medina are planning a roadway reconstruction project along State Road in Medina.

The project limits extend approximately 600 feet north of the existing railroad crossing south of West Liberty Street and extend north along State Road. The project ends at the intersection of South Progress Drive, approximately 800 feet south of the existing railroad crossing. The total project length is approximately 1.3 miles.

Pedestrian access will be maintained where feasible, with the potential use of localized detours as required.

Work to be completed includes the removal and replacement of the existing concrete pavement, installation of new storm sewers and related structures, installation of new water lines, valves and fire hydrants, new sidewalks, and all other appurtenances.

Construction is currently scheduled to begin in fall 2026.

Public input is being sought to help ensure the proposed project is viable and successful. ODOT and the city of Medina are seeking comments from the public regarding the social, environmental and economic impacts of the project. Topics for comment may include, but are not limited to, the effect of the project on residents, air quality, the local economy, and historic or cultural resources.

Comments and questions must be submitted no later than Thursday, Feb. 5.
