Medina County Board of DD to host job fair for direct support professionals
The Medina County Board of Developmental Disabilities (MCBDD) will host a Direct Support Professional (DSP) Job Fair on Saturday, Sept. 13, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Medina County Achievement Center, 4691 Windfall Road, Medina.
The event offers job seekers a chance to learn about meaningful career opportunities as DSPs, who play a critical role in the lives of people with developmental differences. Duties vary depending on each individual’s needs and may include helping with social skills, daily activities such as housekeeping and financial management, and accompanying individuals to appointments or community activities, all with the goal of fostering greater independence.
Attendees will have the chance to meet with multiple hiring organizations, participate in on-the-spot interviews, and explore immediate openings. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, but no prior experience or college degree is required. Many roles offer flexible schedules, training, and long-term career growth. Job seekers are encouraged to bring copies of their resume and a photo ID.
“DSPs are vital to the success of people with developmental differences,” said Stacey Maleckar, MCBDD superintendent. “If someone is looking for a meaningful career with a flexible schedule, casual work environment, and new and fun experiences every day, they should come explore rewarding opportunities in the developmental disabilities field. They just might find a career perfect for them.”
