MCBDD will host an April 21 training in Medina focused on helping caregivers and others better prepare for, respond to and recover from crisis situations.

The Medina County Board of Developmental Disabilities will host “Crisis Safety: Preparing, Responding, and Repairing” on Tuesday, April 21, at 10 a.m. at the Medina County Achievement Center, 4691 Windfall Road, Medina. The training is designed to help anyone strengthen their crisis intervention knowledge so they can create safer, more prepared environments before, during and after a crisis.

This training will not only help caregivers, but anyone responsible for the health and safety of people with developmental differences, learn practical strategies for preventing and responding to crisis situations. Attendees will learn about different crisis intervention models, ways to reduce safety risks, prepare for challenging situations and best practices for post-crisis response and repair.

Training like this reflects MCBDD’s ongoing commitment to helping people with disabilities by supporting those closest to them. “Crisis situations can be challenging for both caregivers and the individuals they support,” said Stacey Maleckar, MCBDD superintendent. “This training is designed to help anyone feel more confident, prepared and equipped with practical tools they can use in real-life situations.”

Anyone interested in attending can register by going to https://www.mcbdd.org/event-calendar/ or by contacting Maggie Skultety, MCBDD training and compliance specialist, at mskultety@mcbdd.org.
