Mount Vernon FFA places 22nd at state forestry contest
Team competes at Hocking College, demonstrating skills in tree and equipment ID, timber cruising and chainsaw troubleshooting
The Mount Vernon FFA chapter recently competed in the Ohio FFA Forestry Career Development Event, held Saturday, Sept. 27 at Hocking College. The team placed 22nd in the state, showcasing their knowledge and skills in various forestry-related areas.
During the contest, members demonstrated their expertise in Timber Stand Improvement, Chainsaw Parts and Identification, Chainsaw Troubleshooting, Tree Identification, Equipment Identification, Timber Cruising, Forestry Disorders, and an online General Knowledge Exam.
Representing Mount Vernon FFA were Zeva Sheets, Connor Thomas, Ellie Boggs, Evelyn Martinez, and Lilly Burchard.
The Forestry Career Development Event provides FFA members with the opportunity to explore forestry and natural resources while practicing hands-on skills important to the industry.
