Statewide search underway for leader to drive economic growth in Knox County

The Knox County Chamber of Commerce Board of Trustees has launched a statewide search for its next Executive Director, seeking a visionary, results-oriented and transformational leader to guide the county’s premier business advocacy organization into its next phase of growth and impact.

Representing a diverse and dynamic membership including small businesses, entrepreneurs, legacy family-owned enterprises, global manufacturers, healthcare providers, agricultural leaders, nonprofits, and educational institutions, the Chamber plays a vital role in advancing Knox County’s economic vitality and strengthening the local business climate.

The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer and public face of the Chamber, leading implementation of the organization’s 2024 strategic plan. This leader will be responsible for driving measurable progress on strategic priorities, accelerating organizational momentum, ensuring long-term financial sustainability, expanding revenue growth, strengthening member engagement and retention, advancing public policy initiatives, and cultivating high-level partnerships throughout the county.

“With a strong strategic foundation in place, the Chamber is ready to accelerate its impact,” said board chair Steve Oster. “We are seeking a transformational leader who will build measurable momentum, deepen business engagement, and serve as a trusted advocate for boldly advancing economic growth throughout Knox County.”

Local chambers of commerce serve as advocates, connectors, educators, and promoters for businesses. In Knox County, the Chamber collaborates closely with major employers, small businesses, community organizations, and educational partners to advance economic opportunity and quality of life throughout the county.

The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of five years of progressive leadership experience in a chamber of commerce, business association, nonprofit organization, economic development entity, or comparable executive role. Demonstrated success in strategic execution, fiscal management, revenue development, board engagement, advocacy, and stakeholder relationship-building is essential. A track record of producing measurable results and leading organizational growth is strongly preferred.

The position offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package, paid time off, professional development opportunities, and a performance-based bonus structure after the first year of service.

Qualified candidates are encouraged to submit a resume, letter of intent, and three professional references. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
