Join Knox Community Hospital for a free Doc Talk on Tuesday, Sept. 23, from 5-6 p.m. Dr. Aevan McLaughlin and Ami Frost, CNP, will discuss weight management, including both surgical and medication options for weight loss. Each patient has unique goals, and understanding your options is important. Join us to learn from these experienced providers who have been helping to improve lives.
This event is open to the community and will be held in the Education Resource Room in the Knox Medical Center, the one-story brick building to the left of the main hospital as you come up the drive to the main entrance.
McLaughlin is a board-certified general and bariatric surgeon and serves as both the Chief of the Department of Surgery and the Director of the Weight Management Department at Knox Community Hospital. McLaughlin has been a key figure at the hospital since 2018, when she founded the Weight Management Program. Her leadership was instrumental in the program's accreditation as a Center of Excellence by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery in 2022.
McLaughlin received her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from Dickinson College. She then completed her medical degree at Ohio State University College of Medicine. She completed her residency in General Surgery and a fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at Rhode Island Hospital, an affiliate of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.
Frost is a Certified Nurse Practitioner at the Weight Management Clinic. She began working at KCH as an agency nurse in the ICU in 2016 and joined the KCH team in 2017. She then became the house supervisor in 2018 until 2023 when she graduated with her master's and began working with the Center for Weight Management.
